6 Skincare Products for Tired AF Skin

I seem spend the majority of my days feeling sleep deprived, mainly due to crazy late & crazy early shifts at work - it's not actually that bad at the moment, but come summer & wedding season, we all gon' be exhausted.
I've found that you can't really do an awful lot to combat the effect extreme tiredness has on your skin, if you're not sleeping right, it will have an effect, but while you can't really stop it happening you can help diminish the effects.
My go to is mainly to drink pint after pint of water & bulk buy strawberries & raspberries - both of which contain tons of anti-oxidants, collagen & vitamin C, all of which help your skin stay looking young, healthy & glowing (not to mention they're utterly delicious & a much healthier sugar boost than the chocolate diet half my workplace seem to survive off.)
There are also loads of skincare products on the market that is aimed at tired skin, and these are just a few of my favourite go-tos...

001. Garnier Skin Active Botanical Day Cream with Rose Water - Both my skin and I have loved this moisturiser since it first came out, it just really, really agrees with my skin. It really hydrating, without feeling too heavy to wear makeup over, it helps soothe any redness I have going on & it just seems to leave my skin feeling & looking healthy & fresh. I have repurchased this so many times because my skin just loves it.

002. Boots Botanics All Bright Eye Roll On with Hibiscus - Who doesn't love a good eye roll-on first thing in the morning! Now this isn't going to get rid of the bags or dark circles under your eyes, but it will help soothe, hydrate & de-puff them. Hands up who else is guilty of sitting for a full 5-10 minutes just rolling one of these beauties around your eyes in the morning... I especially love this one because of the hibiscus extract which is known for it's brightening properties.

003. Caudalie Beauty Elixir - If you have never tried this product yet, why not!? It's bloody lovely. It's basically a vitamin shot that you can spray straight onto your skin that instantly brightens & refreshes your complexion - excellent when you live a busy life & need a quick skin fix.

004. Superdrug Vitamin C Invigorating Skin Booster - This is a serum you can use under or mixed into your moisturiser for a little added boost of Vitamin C to brighten & detoxify your skin. It's absolutely lovely to apply, very soothing & cooling and it gives your skin a healthy looking glow.
It contains Kakadu Plum extract which has the highest concentration of vitamin C of any food on the planet - something of which I will track down to try eating at some point (I'm aaaaall about that vitamin C guys.) As well as containing the very well known Goji Berry extract which is full of antioxidants.

005. Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb De-Tiring Mask - I pretty much buy these sheet masks in bulk, especially whenever I see them on sale. This one in-particular is an absolute god send when you've had a hellish week, or a really fun but tiring weekend. It is intensely hydrating & soothing, and also super relaxing thanks to the added lavender essential oils it contains, perfect for using before bed!

006. The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Reviver & Instant Smoother - And finally, this is my go-to primer on a daily basis, to give my skin that extra little boost while improving it's texture & helping my makeup stay put all day. This, again, is just like a shot of Vitamin C for your face, while also containing light reflecting particles (that doesn't just look like you've put glitter on your face) to add that extra bit of glow to your skin, while making it look (& feel) silky smooth.

What're your favourite skincare items when you're having a tired, grumpy & dull skin day/week/life?

Brunch at Evelyns Cafe Bar, Manchester

After a night seeing Frank Turner at Manchester Academy with one of my favourite people last Friday, with many, many cocktails, accidentally chatting away until 4am, a pretty traumatising late night/early morning maccies run we & only having 5 hours sleep, we decided to go in search of some good hangover food. (& coffee. Lots of coffee.)

While trying to find the energy to get up & out of the hotel, I took to my instagram to find somewhere good for breakfast - surely I'm not the only person who loves foodie instagram recommendations?
Eventually after narrowing down the few I found within walking distance that would serve me the sourdough & avocado I was craving, we decided to head up to Tib Street in the Northern Quarter just a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens to find Evelyns Cafe Bar - which as luck would have it, turns out to be just round the corner from Aflecks Palace, where we intending on visiting before we had to leave the city.

When we arrived it was packed out, of course we hadn't actually even thought to book, which was a massive rookie mistake as it was 1pm on a Saturday & we both work in hospitality and so, should've known better. But, the lovely people that work there managed to find us a table & regardless of how busy it was the service was a lot faster than we thought it would be, considering.

I happily tucked into my sourdough with avocado & poached egg with toasted seeds and latte, while Claire went for their spinach, mushrooms, poached egg & creme fresh on sourdough - all very nutritious for two girls with raging hangovers!

The food was wonderful, the coffee good, the place itself is just beautiful & total instagram goals & the water with cucumber & mint a lovely extra touch - and needed in our state!
I would 100% revisit, in fact I'm quite keen to see whats on their evening & cocktail menus...

You can find their menus & a way to book a table online here - evelynscafebar.com
